Why aren’t you riding?

3rd January 2010

What a way to kick off the new year! We’ve had over a meter of new snow in the last two days and its not showing any signs of slowing up. With forecasts predicting snow right through til late next week, now is the time to book your powder clinic with one of our experienced guides.

Although visibility is poor today, more of the mountain is open up top as the wind has dropped from yesterday. This means plenty of fresh lines are still to be found. So; less talking and more riding!

The end of another year …

31st December 2009

What a way to finish the year! It began snowing hard yesterday evening and it has not stopped. It continues to puke outside leaving people of Hakuba wondering whether to party hard tonight or ride hard in the morning. This is the second dump that we’ve had after feeling the love from our first huge snowfall for days afterward. Tomorrow promises a great start to the new year and an epic day of riding that should not be missed.

Its been all fun and games out on the slopes here since the season started and we cannot wait to continue this on in 2010. Keep your eyes open to spot our green jackets out on the hill and if you need a ski or snowboard lesson just give us a call or drop into one of our offices.
Happy New Year and Happy Shredding!

Boxing Day…

26th December 2009

With the hype of Christmas over and the supermarket shelves now stocked for New Year there is no excuses for not riding in the next few days. Yesterday was beautiful and sunny and forecasts for the next few days promise light snow. There is a great base out there for early season so bring on the next big dump!

Here is one of our instructors, Laura, with her intermediate lesson this morning.

A white Christmas…

24th December 2009

Christmas is almost upon us and Hakuba locals and holiday makers have been enjoying the snow thoroughly for the last few days. Tuesday was our first sunny day of the season and the clouds held off for most of the afternoon although the wind picked up. Conditions on the runs have been excellent with groomers packing a good base ready for the next big dump. On that note, temperatures have unfortunately been increasing so fingers crossed this doesn’t mean rain to bring us into the new year.

Up top today visibility is poor but the sun is suppose to be poking his head out tomorrow so get the crew together and cut a few Christmas laps to spread the festive cheer.

From all the crew here at Evergreen; have a safe and happy Christmas and we’ll see you out riding in 2010!

POW POW!

20th December 2009

Conditions here in Hakuba are EPIC as the snow continues to fall ! With deep powder on main runs riders don’t have to look far for some serious shredding. More courses and lifts continue to open around Hakuba and people are beginning to surface to get in on the action. Temperatures remain cold keeping the snow light and dry making conditions perfect for a great day out on the hill. The only negative thing (if its possible!!) is there is to much snow for certain slopes so stick to the steep terrain and you won’t get stuck!

Check out this photo of one of our staff standing next to her car to demonstrate the incredible amount of snow that has fallen in the last 3 days …

Winter is here!

18th December 2009

The white stuff continues to fall as Hakuba Village is now covered in over half a meter of snow! As a good base develops resorts are planning on fully opening for the weekend to kick off the season. Lessons are already underway here at Evergreen and forecasts for more good snow over the next few days means winter is well and truly here. Visibility today is limited due to heavy snowfalls and there is a slight wind chill out there but smiles from instructors and guests coming back in from lessons says it all. So get your boards and skis waxed and tuned up ready for another great season and we’ll see you out there!
